Acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge and thank Ling-yun Shih for her fine, original renditions of the Ten Ox Herding Pictures.

Ling-yun Shih, an artist and calligrapher, has drawn many of the covers and inside illustrations for the Ch'an Magazine, one of our center's publications. Her drawings for Ox Herding at Morgan's Bay are simple ＆ spare, yet they convey the spirit of the traditional pictures.

Since Master Sheng-yen has offered a 20th century commentary on the Ox Herding analogy, we felt it would be appropriate to have a 20th century interpretation of the drawings as well. We hope that Master Sheng-yen's words and Ling-yun Shih's images are as timeless as the Ten Ox Herding Pictures.
